Ambassador Dr. Mostafa Sherbiny: “Our participation in COP31 will demonstrate how Egyptian expertise has built a internationally accredited institution for carbon verification, professional certification, sustainability reporting, and climate capacity-building.”
The Institute of Sustainability and Carbon Footprint (ISCF) is preparing to bring its institutional achievements to the international stage at COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, through a planned delegation of 25 Climate Ambassadors, led by its Founder and CEO, Ambassador Dr. Mostafa Elsayed Sherbiny.
The delegation's mission extends beyond participation in climate discussions. It aims to showcase the Institute's success in developing an Egyptian institutional model that integrates internationally aligned accreditation, independent greenhouse gas verification, professional certification, sustainability disclosure training, and digital climate solutions.
Among the achievements to be highlighted are ISCF's accreditation by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) under ISO/IEC 17024 for personnel certification and under ISO/IEC 17029 and ISO 14065 for relevant validation and verification activities, within the respective approved scopes.
The Institute will also highlight its portfolio of 20 professional qualifications and certification levels, its recognition as an ISSB Global Training Partner of the IFRS Foundation, its UK CPD professional development programmes, and its development of the EU CBAM MRV digital platform.
The planned participation will provide an opportunity to present these achievements to international climate stakeholders and explore how this Egyptian experience could support professional capacity-building across the Arab region, Africa, and beyond.
Gharb News: Why have you chosen COP31 as an international platform for presenting ISCF's success stories, and what role will the 25 Climate Ambassadors play?
Ambassador Dr. Mostafa Sherbiny:
COP31 offers us an important opportunity to present an Egyptian institutional experience that has moved from vision to practical implementation.
Within a relatively short period, ISCF has established accredited capabilities in personnel certification and greenhouse gas validation and verification, developed a portfolio of professional qualifications, joined the IFRS Foundation's ISSB Global Training Partner programme, and launched specialised digital climate solutions.
These are not simply separate achievements. Together, they represent the foundations of an integrated professional ecosystem.
Our planned delegation of 25 Climate Ambassadors will help communicate this experience to an international audience.
We intend to present the Institute's achievements through professional discussions, knowledge-sharing activities, meetings with international organisations, and engagement with climate education and capacity-building stakeholders.
The Climate Ambassadors will also represent the next generation of professionals who can carry these competencies into universities, industries, financial institutions, and communities.
An important part of our COP31 agenda involves continuing discussions with the United Nations University Vice-Rectorate in Europe, particularly its Pan African Cooperation and Educational Technologies division, and Dr. Ambe Emmanuel Cheo.
We intend to explore the proposed Climate Ambassadors Summer School 2027, targeting 1,000 students and young professionals from 20 universities, as well as an international ISSB training initiative for financial-sector professionals.
We also hope to explore opportunities for cooperation with Saudi sustainability and investment stakeholders.
Our objective is to demonstrate that Egypt can contribute to international climate action not only through participation in conferences, but through the development of credible institutions, qualified professionals, internationally aligned technical services, and practical climate solutions.
The message we want to deliver at COP31 is clear: Egyptian climate expertise is capable of building institutions, developing professional standards, and contributing practical solutions to the global sustainability transition.
A Success Story Moving from Institutional Achievement to International Impact
ISCF's planned presence at COP31 marks the next stage in its development: presenting its achievements internationally while exploring opportunities to expand their educational and professional impact.
The Institute's experience demonstrates the connection between accreditation, professional competence, independent verification, sustainability reporting, and digital innovation.
Through its delegation of 25 Climate Ambassadors, ISCF intends to highlight how these capabilities can support a broader regional network of climate professionals and academic institutions.
The proposed meetings with the United Nations University and other international stakeholders will also provide opportunities to explore the next phase of cooperation, particularly in youth climate leadership, university education, and professional development.
For Ambassador Dr. Mostafa Sherbiny, the central objective is to ensure that institutional achievements become a foundation for wider climate capacity-building.
“We are going to COP31 not merely to participate in the international climate conversation, but to present what we have built, share what we have learned, and explore how our Egyptian experience can contribute to developing the next generation of climate professionals.”
