بعد مرور شهره الأول في القاهرة، أجرى السفير البريطاني لقاءات مع عدد من الشركاء الرئيسيين، والتي أفضت إلى تحديد أولوياته الاستراتيجية لتعزيز العلاقات العريقة والمتميزة بين المملكة المتحدة ومصر. وتتمثل هذه الأولويات في تعزيز التعاون الثنائي من خلال دعم التجارة وزيادة الاستثمارات، إلى جانب توسيع مجالات التعاون في التعليم والطاقة النظيفة والتكنولوجيا والخدمات المالية، بما يساهم في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة والرخاء المشترك. كما شدد السفير على دعم بلاده لجهود مصر في التعامل مع التحديات الإقليمية، خاصة في السودان وغزة، وتعزيز العمل الإنساني، ومن أبرز هذه المبادرات مساهمة المملكة المتحدة بمبلغ مليون جنيه إسترليني لمنظمة الصحة العالمية في مصر لتقديم الرعاية الطبية للفلسطينيين الذين تم إجلاؤهم طبيًا. كما أكد السفير حرصه على ضمان سلامة وراحة مئات الآلاف من السياح البريطانيين الذين يزورون مصر سنويًا.
وفي أول تصريح له عقب توليه المنصب، قال السفير مارك برايسون-ريتشاردسون:
"يسرني ويشرفني أن أتولى منصب السفير البريطاني لدى جمهورية مصر العربية. إن العودة إلى القاهرة تمثل لي فرصة مميزة للعمل على تعزيز العلاقات التاريخية والمتميزة بين بلدينا.
أتطلع إلى التعاون الوثيق مع شركائنا المصريين في مختلف المجالات، بما في ذلك التجارة والاستثمار والتعليم والنمو الأخضر، بما يسهم في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة والازدهار المشترك. كما أؤكد التزام المملكة المتحدة بدعم الجهود المصرية الرامية إلى إيجاد حلول فعالة وسريعة للتوترات الإقليمية، بما يعزز الأمن والاستقرار في المنطقة.

وشغل مارك قبل تعيينه في القاهرة منصب ممثل وزير الخارجية البريطاني للشؤون الإنسانية في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة، حيث عمل على تنسيق الجهود الإنسانية وتعزيز الاستجابة الدولية للأزمات.
وقد تقلّد مارك العديد من المناصب العليا في حكومة جلالة الملك، من بينها سفير المملكة المتحدة لدى العراق (يوليو 2021 – يوليو 2023)، ومدير شؤون الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا وأوروبا الشرقية في وزارة التنمية الدولية/وزارة الخارجية والكومنولث والتنمية (2019 – 2020)، بالإضافة إلى منصب مدير وحدة الاستقرار (2014 – 2019).

Mark Bryson-Richardson assumed his role as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt in August 2025. His appointment reflects the United Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Egypt and expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
Following a first month of engagements with key interlocutors in Egypt, the Ambassador has outlined his key priorities for strengthening the historic and distinguished ties between the UK and Egypt. His agenda focuses on deepening bilateral relations through enhanced trade and investment, fostering collaboration in education, renewable energy, technology, and financial services to drive sustainable development. He is committed to supporting Egypt’s efforts to address regional challenges, particularly in Sudan and Gaza, and to advancing humanitarian cooperation, including the UK’s recent £1 million contribution to WHO in Egypt for Palestinian medical support. Additionally, the Ambassador aims to ensure the safety and satisfaction of the hundreds of thousands of British tourists who visit Egypt annually.
In his first statement following his appointment, Ambassador Mark Bryson-Richardson said:
"I am honoured and delighted to take up my role as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt. Returning to Cairo presents a unique opportunity to strengthen the historic and distinguished ties between our two countries.

Prior to his posting in Cairo, Mark served as the Foreign Secretary’s Representative for Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, where he coordinated humanitarian efforts and supported international responses to crises.
Mark has held several senior positions within His Majesty’s Government, including British Ambassador to Iraq (July 2021 – July 2023), Director for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe at the Department for International Development/Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (2019 – 2020), and Director of the Stabilisation Unit (2014 – 2019).
Since joining the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in 1999, Mark has undertaken diplomatic assignments in Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Sudan, and Pakistan, serving in roles such as Deputy Head of Mission, Political Counsellor, and Head of Political and Press Section legislation
