In a landmark achievement that reinforces Egypt’s leadership in climate action across the Arab region, the Institute of Sustainability and Carbon Footprint LLC (ISCF) has been inaugurated as the first specialized institute in Egypt and the Arab world focusing on sustainability, carbon management, and climate risk assessment.
ISCF operates under the umbrella of the International Expertise House for ESG, alongside:
The College of Sustainability and Carbon Footprint LLC in the United Kingdom.
A network of leading experts in environmental auditing, sustainability reporting, and advisory services.
The institute builds on decades of expertise in capacity development and is established by the same pioneering team that introduced Egypt’s first Professional Diploma in Carbon Footprint Auditing in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry. This program has produced three successive cohorts of Certified Carbon Footprint Auditors, laying the groundwork for national and regional capacity in sustainability and carbon management. The institute has also contributed to creating leading Arabic references on greenhouse gas auditing and carbon footprint methodologies, positioning ISCF as both an academic and practical hub for:
Carbon footprint measurement and reporting.
Carbon neutrality strategies.
Corporate sustainability planning.
Clean and renewable energy solutions.
Beyond education and training, ISCF provides integrated consultancy services to help businesses and governments align with international standards and comply with evolving European regulations, including:
Global reporting and disclosure standards: GRI, IFRS S1 & S2, TNFD, PCAF.
European legislative frameworks: CSRD, CBAM, EU Taxonomy, CSDDD.
Carbon and energy management standards: ISO 14064, ISO 50001, PAS 2060.
The institute is led by Ambassador Dr. Mostafa El Sherbiny, a globally recognized authority on sustainability and climate risk. Dr. El Sherbiny currently serves as Executive Director of the College of Sustainability and Carbon Footprint in the UK, European Climate Pact Ambassador in Egypt, and Chair of the Carbon Footprint and Sustainability Academic Chair at ALECSO–Arab League. He is also the founder of the international initiatives “Climate Ambassadors” and “Auditors and Experts in Sustainability and Climate Risk Assessment”, both officially listed under the UN SDG Partnerships platform.
Commenting on the launch, Ambassador El Sherbiny stated:
“The establishment of ISCF is a continuation of Egypt’s leadership in climate action after hosting COP27. It will act as a regional hub for professional certification, applied research, auditing, and consultancy—helping strengthen institutional capacities, drive the green economy, and accelerate the region’s transition towards sustainability.”
ISCF’s team brings together a distinguished group of international experts and academics specializing in carbon management, renewable energy, sustainable finance, circular economy, and ESG reporting. By leveraging this expertise, the institute aims to support governments, private sector entities, and civil society in working towards the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
Through its establishment, the institute contributes to the mission of International Expertise House for ESG by:
Assisting Egyptian and Arab companies in complying with EU requirements to safeguard market access and export continuity.
Supporting universities and government agencies in emission reduction and improving global competitiveness rankings.
Delivering specialized training and certifications to build a new generation of sustainability leaders and carbon footprint professionals.
With its launch, the Institute of Sustainability and Carbon Footprint (ISCF) opens new horizons for the Arab region, enabling stronger participation in global climate initiatives and reinforcing the foundations of sustainable development for the decades ahead.
